The visual will be presented during the Oral Presentation. A rubric is used for grading the oral presentation. Using index cards for the presentation will make the report go smoothly. The student should not read the report to us, but tell us about the book. However, if the student is using a digital presentation, they do not have to have index cards, they may use the digital presentation to present the information.
Needed Information: ~The name of the book ~The name of the illustrator ~The Genre (fiction, nonfiction, fantasy, adventure, mystery, biography, folktale, science, sports, etc.) ~The plot Development: man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs. self, man vs. fate, man vs. society ~ Who are the protagonist (hero) and antagonist (villain in the story) ~Character(s) are ______________________________________________ Four words to describe the character are: (character traits) ~The Main Setting (s) are _________________________________________ Four words to describe the setting(s) are: ~I would recommend this book to -------because------use details here------ ~Summary: Tell about the Beginning, middle and end. Give details, but do not retell the story chapter by chapter. ~Conclude with: (two or more sentences for each item below) ·Something I noticed about the writing was_______________ ·Something I noticed about the illustrations was ___________ · This book reminded me of ______________________________ ·My connection with the story is ________________________________ ~Now you are ready to share your visual ~Be sure to make the connection to the book, explain your visual, share your thoughts ~Ask your audience if there are any questions ~Hints: Use eye contact, speak so the audience can hear you, & practice your oral presentation at home ~Time Frame is five to eight minutes. ~The visual will be presented during the Oral Presentation. The student should not read the report to us, but tell us about the book. ~Practice at home in front of a person or mirror presentation at home Fantasy Book Reports Needed Information: ~The name of the book ~The name of the illustrator ~The Genre ~Theme (this must be included) ~The plot Development: man vs. man, man vs. nature, man vs. self, man vs. fate, man vs. society, etc. ~ Who are the protagonist (hero) and antagonist (villain in the story) (remember to describe them in detail--their physical appearance, etc. ~Character(s) people--animals---magical or supernatural powers, are they a stereotype of good or evil--how? Details needed for each character How did the main character face and solve the problem Four words to describe the character are: (character traits) ~The Main Setting (s) past, present, future--enchanted Describe your setting in detail Plot--magical--challenges faced--include what is wrong in the universe--how is the world titled? Include the problem and how the character's solution to the problem. Include pictures or video if available. Is there a life lesson or moral to your story? |
Information that should be included for Oral Book Report:
~Name of the book ~Name of the author ~Name of the illustrator ~List five things that you already knew about this subject before reading the book. ~List five new facts you learned from reading this book ~List six new vocabulary words that you learned from this book with their definition. Write a sentence using the words that are linked to your book. ~List three opinions that were stated in your book. ~Make three inferences from your information (from the context clues in the text--do quote the text in your inferences and tell us what you are inferring from the text) Paragraphs needed here ~What is the evidence from the text that proves your inferences (use direct quotes) Paragraphs needed here ~what is the point of view of your person about the Civil War?
